For a number of years it was well known that running PHP or Drupal on Windows and IIS was largely not possible, especially in a production hosted environment. What is largely not known is today how much that has changed. For the last 5 years Microsoft has been working very closely with the PHP community and there are a number of recent changes to our web platform of Windows Server, IIS, SQL Server and Windows Azure that make running PHP on the Microsoft Web Platform a reality for production sites. And over the last two years Microsoft has been working with the Drupal community to make Drupal run great on our platform as well.
